To get the best value from this course, you need to take it step by step. Don't rush through it. And don't skip steps. Whenever we have something new to learn, we need to take it at the rate we, and in this case our cat, can manage.
This course is broken into three sections or modules.
The first module is all about HOW to feed a cat raw food. It’s about the introduction to raw, how to get even the fussiest kibble-addicted feline to eat raw.
It’s broken down into simple, short steps, starting with how your thoughts and beliefs may be hampering the process, to the worst case scenario (kibble addiction and leaving it out all day), all the way down to crunching up on raw bones.
So if you don’t feed dry kibble, you can jump to the wet food lesson. Or if you’re feeding a brand of raw food but want to go home-made, you could jump to the raw meat lesson.
It’s vital to take this very important process at your pace, and at your cat’s pace. None of us do well when too much information or differences are dumped on us suddenly. We need to process new experiences at our own pace. And so does your cat.
I feel that you should allow a couple of months, in the worst case scenario, for this conversion. It would be wonderful if it was less, and it may well be. But do allow plenty of time.
One thing to remember is that cats are independent beings. They don’t like being told what to do! It’s not uncommon for them to accept one stage, such as raw muscle meat, but reject every other stage for quite a while. Respect this, but keep gently pushing them.
The second module is about understanding who cats are, so you can determine if they need extra support or if it's just a normal reaction to the change to a healthy diet.
The third module covers some of the all too common health issues cats suffer with, and some common myths about what cats need. All these conditions, and many others, will improve significantly, if not completely, on a good quality raw meat and bones diet.
By all means read everything first. However, implement it slowly, at your pace and that of your cat. Don’t rush through the process. Look upon the process as building blocks. Laying the foundation is the most important part.
When you hit a problem, go back the last step, or two, to when your cat accepted the food. Stay there a bit longer before taking the next step.
Success comes from taking the time to understand the why, the what, the how. Here, it is laid out for you.
While it's really important to make the change at the rate both you and your cat can manage, don't dawdle! You need to keep the process going.
Most of us are busy. Life gets in the way of doing what we want to do. This means that when you and your cat have mastered one lesson, you may forget to take the next lesson.
So I suggest you mark on your calendar or set reminders on your phone, whatever you normally do, at the start of each lesson. Or you could make it a week from the start of the lesson's implementation. It may be quicker than that. Or it may take longer.
Take those reminders seriously. If you're too busy to move on, set another reminder when you feel you'll have more time.
Most problems are covered. However, if you hit one, leave a comment. I, and other course members, will be able to help. Once you have succeeded over a hurdle, you are in a place to help others.
I do encourage you to use the comment section not just for problems, but for wins and general discussion, too.
