What is holistic health care and why does it matter to you? After all, you may have been blissfully unaware all these years and managed just fine. So I want to start by delving in to who we really are. And when I say we, I include all life, not just human.
Whatever your religious/spiritual beliefs are, all life here are expressions of duality – souls or spirits inhabiting physical bodies. The soul or spirit is our link to our source. The physical body is our link to the earth. We need to care for and tend to both equally.
Depending on your belief system, people often lean towards one more than the other, but that puts you out of balance, which can lead to disharmony and disease.
The Soul/Spirit Side
This is your consciousness. It is your personal expression of life based on your life experiences, your personality, your inheritance and probably much more.
Nearly, if not everyone has had a spiritual experience of some kind. It just isn’t talked about much. Or when it is, it is often dismissed as ‘silly’ or ‘all in your mind’, so people are reluctant to talk openly about their experiences.
It could from be a simple heart felt connection of love on hearing a beautiful piece of music or wonderful natural scene. It could come in meditation. It slows us right down and focus is totally in the moment. There is no time, only the moment and the experience.
The feeling is near impossible to put into words. But it tends to be profound and remains in your memory.
If you can pinpoint a location of where it is felt or experienced, it is in the heart or gut area. Love is felt in the heart, feelings in the gut.
The Physical Side and The Importance of the Connection
This needs no explanation as most people have an overwhelming focus on their body.
The location can be pinpointed to your mind, as most people think excessively. Generally, the mind is used more than the heart or feelings.
However, the physical body is the expression of the consciousness, the soul/spiritual side. It isn’t separate.
Unfortunately, most people are brought up to deny the natural expression of their inner being. Well meaning parents, teachers, society, peers, religions who, in turn, were taught this themselves, keep a broken system in perpetuity.
The discordance between the soul and the body leads to emptiness and a lack of purpose at best, to depression and suicidal disposition at worst, with a host of physical diseases in between.
A physical disease isn’t something broken in your body, that needs removing, altering or suppression with drugs. It’s your individual spiritual self expressing disharmony and the need to rebalance.
Physical disease, especially chronic disease, takes years of disconnection from your true identity, to develop. Physical disease always shows up first in your feelings. Denying what you want to say or do leads to suppression. It becomes a habit. Perhaps to appease those around you. Perhaps so you don’t stand out as different.
Whatever the reason, if this continues for years, then you will develop a physical disease.
The Medical Approach
This is a very limited, narrow snapshot of where you are now, without any consideration to how you arrived here. Surgery and drugs may give you short term respite, but normally at the cost of long term suffering.
Very often a medical therapist is so busy looking at the test reports, they fail to see the patient in front of them. Mistakes easy occur this way. For example, a patient was prescribed thyroxine for hypothyroidism, based only on the TSH result. Yet she was slim and active, the complete opposite to the sluggish, overweight signs of hypothyroidism.
When she suffered badly from the drug, they increased the dose. She went from bad to worse, given more and stronger drugs, ending up with cancer. No one along the way checked to see when it had started. They were all too focused on the test results and treating the ‘condition’ in the only way they knew how – by the book.
The Holistic Approach
In true holistic healing, such as with good homeopathic health care, the patient is where the focus is. It’s the patient who express themselves either verbally or with body language. It’s the patients history or journey that is important. It’s the patient’s way of expressing themselves that matters. It’s the patient’s sensitivities that need consideration.
By investing in holistic health care for yourself and your family, you will find you all enjoy life more, have more energy for the things you want to do, express your true selves easily. And physical diseases drop by the wayside. Live as you were meant to – joyously and in harmony with both parts of you.
